Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour CFR JSC

Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour was born on 22nd March, 1951. Between, 1956 – 1963 he had his Primary School Education. He was at St. Gregory’s College, Lagos for his secondary Education where he graduated in 1968 while in 1970 he obtained Higher School Certificate (H.S.C.) Advance Level, thereafter he proceeded to University of Lagos for LL.B program and graduated in 1974 and he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1975.

He started his carrier with Lagos State Ministry for Justice as Pupil State Counsel in 1976. In 1989 he was Director of Legislative Drafting and as Director of Public Prosecutions 1989 – 1994.

On 18th February, 1994 he moved to the bench as High Court Judge Lagos State Judiciary. He was appointed as Justice of the Court of Appeal on 25th March, 2005. While on 16th September, 2010, he was appointed Justices of the Supreme Court.

Prior to his appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2008, he served as Justice of the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone. On his return, he served as Member Election Petition Tribunal/Member Election Appeal Tribunal in various States of the Federation.

He attended many Professional Conferences and Seminars within and outside Nigeria.

A recipient of many Award and Honours among which are:

  • The Lagos State Judiciary Merit Award in recognition of invaluable service to the High Court of Lagos State. Dec. 2003
  • Honoured by Lagos State Government for outstanding contribution to the Lagos State Ministry of Justice. 2003
  • Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 2012
  • Life Bencher. 19th May, 2016

Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour is happily married and blessed with children.
